Entering Return D1 Data - Supplementary Report of Offenses

After the classifications and valuations of Stolen and Recovered Property are determined, monthly figures can be entered on Return D1.  The data entry form for Return D1 follows the layout of the FBI standard paper return.

The Return D1 screen consists of two columns for data entry: "Value of Property Stolen" and "Value of Property Recovered". The statistics are entered by Property Type. You should make sure that all of the data collected for the Property Type being entered is present before entering the next Property or moving to the next data entry page. The Property Types applicable for this form are listed down the left side of the form. Navigation between columns can be accomplished by using the Tab key to move to the next column for which you have data, or using the mouse.

The total of Dollars for Property Stolen has been entered based on the information you entered on Return D2.  Break the total out into its appropriate sub-Categories.  The numbers you enter must equal the total for that Category.  f there are no statistics for a column, it can be left blank and the system will fill the column with zero during processing.

Remember to report the value of property stolen and the amount recovered.  Include all property recovered this month, even though it was stolen in a prior month.  This is an accounting of property stolen in your jurisdiction.  Include property recovered by you in your jurisdiction, property recovered for you by other jurisdictions, but not property you recovered for them.

Repeat the above process for all Property Types for which you have statistics to record. Please note that all Total lines will be calculated by the system and you will not be able to enter data into these lines.

Three links are available to allow you to control the data entry process. At any time during the data input, Help for the completion of Return C is available by clicking on the "Need Help?" link on the bottom of the page.  Clicking on the  "Save Submission" link will save all statistics entered up to that point, in the event you are not able to complete entering all statistics for the current month's submission in one session.  Finally, clicking the "Continue" link will signal the system that you have completed entering Return C statistics.  The system will verify the data that has been entered, and return any errors for correction before moving to the next screen.

Note on screen navigation: The UCR system does not always provide direct access to the Supplementary Report of Offense (Return D1) screen from the Stolen Property by Classification (Return D2) screen. If you encounter this situation, use the link provided on the Submission Confirmation screen to access the Return D1 screen.
